Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! We hope you all had a restful holiday. We are pleased to see our children with renewed energy and a big enthusiasm to join in with our activities. Here are the highlights:
-The children have been enjoying reading 'Handa's Surprise' by Eileen Brown. We have been focusing on the fruit names in the story as well as constructing sentences to retell the story in their own words.
-We have been buying and selling the fruit from Handa's Surprise in our market role-play area.
-We have been focusing on rhyming words. The children have enjoyed reading different rhyming books but have particularly enjoyed 'One Mole Digging a Hole' by Julia Donaldson and Nick Sharatt.
-The children are learning shape names beyond the four basic shapes and have been introduced to vocabulary such as 'sides' and 'corners'.
