Row, Row, Row your Boat

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
If you see a crocodile
Don't forget to scream!

Newsletter WE 28th February 2014

Dear Parents,

This week saw the last week of our ARC visits.  We were visited by two ARC volunteers and two rescue dogs called Sukhi and Luka.  The children put into practice what they had  learnt with Mr Peter and Ms Koto.  Most children wanted to stroke the dog and did so very gently.  The children's interest in pets has led to a change in our role-play area.  It is now a Vet's clinic.

Around the classroom, the children have been playing with a mixture of shaving foam and cornflour as well as basil seeds gloop.  We have also been focusing on scissor skills and counting.  The children enjoyed using a new resource this week.  We have six new mobile phones which the children have been taking turns to use. We have heard some very funny conversations!

In the main playground we have been playing parachute games and catching and throwing the ball.  The children have been practising skipping and balancing.

We have a new display in the classroom based on 'Handa's Surprise'.  Ms Francez has been working with the children on this.  Please have a look on Monday!

Today is Ms Francez's last day at TX.  It has been a pleasure to have her here in F2.  Thank you for all your hard work with the children and all the wonderful learning you have inspired.  We will miss you!

Newsletter 21.02.2014

Dear Parents,

This week, ARC visited again F2 and the children had an amazing time playing with Dr. Nghia and his cat named Ho. They also learned to take good care of animals and took on the role of vets themselves.

In the classroom, we have added a lot of new things. They have been interested with animals lately and so we added different animal headdresses, a puppet theatre and animal costumes in the role play area. The children made rabbit ears inspired by the story that Ms. Gurvinder told them titled, "What can Rabbit hear?" Which focused on listening skills.  We also have a new Construction set for the children to play with which is called Kinex. They have been very fond of building things such as flowers and butterflies.   The children have been playing a listening game on the IWB.  We also changed the set up of our classroom for it to be more spacious and accessible for the children.

We also celebrated Tam's 4th birthday last Thursday. The children enjoyed cake and gave their warm greetings.

We had Science Day last week and we would like to share this experiment that we did in school. You might want to do it with your child as well at home. Here is the link for the children's bicarbonate of soda and vinegar experiment:

It was a fun-filled week for the F2 unit. Have a great weekend!

With the help of Dr. Nghia, Phuong Anh was able to hear the cat's heartbeat.

Toby liked stroking Ho and feeling his white fur.

The girls are happily wearing their bunny ears.
What can these rabbits hear?

Khanh An enjoyed playing with the Kinex.

Daisy made a magic wand out of the Kinex.

Khoi played with the sounds game in the IWB.

Reminders:

February 24th and 25th (Monday and Tuesday), the children's photographs will be taken. Please ensure that you child wears full school uniform.

For next week's News, Isaiah and Victoria will be sharing in class about their weekend.

Dear Parents,

We are overwhelmed with excitement for this week's activities at school. We have never been this busy but we are all pleased that we have had so much fun exploring and discovering different activities in and out of school.

Here are the highlights of the week:

Tuesday: We had a visit from Mr Peter and Ms Koto from ARC (Animal Rescue and Care) who talked about caring for pet animals.

Wednesday: All of us took part in the Science day!

Thursday: The much anticipated Teddy Bears picnic at BVIS took place.

Friday: We extended our learning of the story, Handa's Surprise, through a market visit. Children were put into groups and were given a list of fruit to buy.

"Can i touch the dog?" Daniel asked Mr Peter.
Isaiah, Daisy and Lucy were chosen as 'Scientists' for exploring all areas
enthusiastically and asking sensible questions.

Children waiting for the magic to happen! (vinegar and baking soda)

Water xylophone!

Children and their teddies waiting patiently for the picnic to start.
