Newsletter 24th January 2014

Dear Parents,

It's been a very exciting week!  We have been busy preparing for our Tet celebrations.  We made special Tet decorations to hang up in the foyer and also made Vietnamese sweet soup and spring rolls.  The children also enjoyed out Tet party on Thursday after the performance. We would like to say a big thank you for all your lovely food contributions as well as for joining us on Thursday for our show.

Next term, Ms Thuy will be joining our F2 team and we will be saying goodbye to Ms Vy and Ms Tram.

Upcoming EYFS events next term include a Teddy Bears picnic at BVIS as well as our EYFS Activity Day.  More details to follow.

Newsletter 17.01.2014

Dear Parents,

Children in F2 joined in with the whole school celebrating Healthy Living week. We have been doing different activities in and out of the classroom to promote good eating habits and healthy living. Children learnt about healthy (good) and unhealthy (bad) foods and how important it is for us to choose the food we eat healthily.

Outside, we have been playing the obstacle course where the children had to balance a bean bag on their heads, weave through cones, walk through a balancing beam and jump into hoops. Children have also enjoyed doing Yoga in the classroom.

Jump high Thalia!
Anthony walking through the balancing beams.
Sao Mai carefully slicing the mangoes.
Toby helped Ms Grace juice the carrot to make playdough.
Colin mixed the ingredients to make carrot playdough.
Yoga time!
Children played a fruit relay game in the splash pool.

Newsletter 10.01.2014

Welcome back to school! We hope all of you have had a well-deserved break and are all ready for the fun and exciting activities awaiting this term.

Let us welcome 3 new children in F2 who are Momoko, Nhut An and Daniel. They have been settling in well in the classroom and are beginning to make friends with other children. We also have Ms Francez who is a teacher-trainee and Ms Tram who used to work in F3 last term.

As you may have noticed as you came in the classroom this morning that we have taken 1 shelf out by the window. The shelf will be staying there for the remainder of the year to give way for a much better use of the space in the classroom. We have extended our Music and Movement area  to give our children more space to move and explore our resources. In addition, F2 children are now more confident and independent to be able to access their bags outside. May we please remind all the parents again to make sure that their children's personal belongings are properly labelled.

Every morning, children use the IWB (interactive whiteboard) to check/register their names independently. We slightly changed how they do this by putting the children into 2 groups. The children are aware of which group they are in so it is easier for the children to know which IWB to go to in the morning. We have Orange and Purple Elephants group.
