Newsletter 27.06.214

Dear Parents,

Although this week is our last for the year we still engaged in many different activities around the school. All children participated in the Move Up day. F2 children were able to go to F3 classrooms and meet Mr John and Ms Alice. They were all very excited as they went up the stairs to join in the 'big' children's classrooms.

As we say farewell to the children, we also say goodbye to Ms Cheska who will be going to An Phu campus to start her teacher training. I know you will join us in saying thank you for all the care you gave the children and good luck to your training next year.

Daniel also celebrated his 4th birthday with us and his parents brought in a cake for us to share. Happy Birthday Daniel!

Last Thursday, we enjoyed all the food you shared with us as we celebrated a year of learning through an amazing class party!

It has been a really fantastic year we have had with your children. We really enjoyed having them in class this year. We are certain that all of them will have loads of fun in F3 as much as they had in F2.

Please enjoy a slideshow of the children's photographs over the year.

Have a lovely summer holiday! See you all in August.

Regards,
Ms Grace, Ms Gurvinder, Ms Cheska, Ms Nhat, Ms Thuy and Ms Huong

20.06.14. Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Thank you to all of you who were able to come to our transition meeting on Thursday.  Please note one of the important changes that occur from F2 to F3 is that children  will no longer have a 'sleep' time in F3.  This may mean an earlier bedtime for your child so they are alert and full of energy for the day ahead!

If you were not able to attend the meeting, then you should have received our EYFS handbook as well as a 'staggered start' letter outlining the days/times your child will attend school at the beginning of next term.

There have been lots of special events this week including our 3rd trip to the big pool, eating our lunch in the canteen and of course our trip today to 'Playtime' in Lottemart in D11.  We also celebrated Henry's birthday- Happy 4th Birthday Henry!

Today, everyone was sent a requesting a contribution for our class party next week.  As this food and drink will also be a combination of snack and lunch, we have tried to ensure there is a good selection of savoury food.  Please can we ask you to only bring the type of food and amount asked for to avoid wastage and to ensure our children get a healthy balance of food.  Thanks for your support with this.  Children can wear their party clothes but should bring a set of uniform in their bags.

Next week:

Monday   Splash pool as usual.
Tuesday  Change over morning on  (The children will visit the F3 classroom and spend some time getting to know Ms Alice and Mr John).
Wednesday  Our 4th session in the big pool.  EYFS fun and games in the gym.
Thursday F2 party in the morning.
Friday Last day of school 11.30 am finish.

We will also have 2 more lunches in the canteen as part of our F2/F3 transition.

Have a lovely weekend!

Gurvinder and the F2 team.

Y3's Rainforest Cafe

F2 children have been invited to come to Year 3's Rainforest cafe on Monday 16th June.  Please see message below from the children in Year 3.

"This term Year 3 have been studying the rainforest during their IPC lessons, and finding out how the destruction of the rainforests are endangering many different species of animals.

To help raise money to support these animals, the children in year 3 will be opening a rainforest cafe in the foyer during the afternoons next week.  They will be selling cakes, juices and recycled crafts that they have made.

You can buy tokens for 10,000vnd each from MS. Oanh in the office from Friday this week.

We hope you'll all come and support."

Newsletter 13.06.2014

Children in F2 have been enjoying listening to and acting out parts in the story Snow White. We have taken out various Fairytales costumes that they can use and all of them were very eager to wear princesses, kings and knights clothes. Some of them still are very enthusiastic about making potions in the Investigation area. They even put the potion in the apple to make it poisonous for their role play.

We have been using a FREE iPad app in the classroom called Snow White by TabTale. You might want to download one for your child to also use at home.

Please also see the link Princess Long Ago to listen to and sing along with the song.

In Maths, children have been doing lots of counting activities such as:
* counting/tapping body parts to 20.
* counting backwards - rocket blast off
* counting jumps, star jumps and hops

In the swimming pool, children have shown more confidence exploring the area. Ms Cheska played a game with them called 'Salmon says'. All of them were able to do the actions Ms Cheska told them to do such as 'chin in the water', 'rain drops on your head', 'wash your face' and 'turn around'. We are very pleased to see that all F2 are enjoying this activity so much and they are showing their swimming skills confidently.

Out in the main playground, we have been enjoying using the 'Dome', 'Supernova' and the bikes! They have been showing increasing confidence using these resources with no support from their teachers.

We have also been doing lots of activities on Rhyming and Alliteration. Please see the youtube video of a song they have been singing in Music with Mr Robbie.

Please meet our beautiful princesses in F2!

Newsletter 06.06.14.

Dear Parents,

This week's main event was our first trip to the big pool.  The children went down to the pool in three separate groups.  They were introduced to Mr Chau, our PE TA.  We focused on how to get in and out of the pool safely using the ladder and moving around the pool in different ways.  The majority of children coped very well with using the ladder and moved around the pool on their own.  Most children were eager to show off their swimming skills too!

The other activity the children really enjoyed this week was baking rainbow cakes.  This idea came from the story 'Happy Birthday Winnie' in which Winnie uses her magic wand to make a huge cake.  One of the layers is a rainbow cake.  Ms Cheska led this activity and she was very impressed with the children's cooking skills and how well they concentrated during the activity.  The children have continued to be interested in magic potions and spells but lots of children have also been enjoying playing with our castle and fairy tale characters.  With that in mind, we will be sharing the fairy tale 'Snow White' next week.

We celebrated Lucy Ngo and Momoko's 4th birthdays this week.  Happy Birthday!
